Certification Readiness Assessment Courses
How to Prepare for Advanced Performance 1
Before entering the Advanced Performance 1 Certification Readiness Assessment Course (S400d), learners intending to take the certification exam are expected to complete the following preparation through independent study in the Salimpour Library and the choreography short courses.
For those not intending to test, the course can serve as a helpful framework for understanding certification standards and obtaining guidance on the required elements.
In S400d, learners have somatic assignments, choreography approvals, recital preparation, and related assignments to be completed and passed during the course. The final exam is a Choreography Showcase Recital to be held within 12 weeks after the course end date.

Note about Advanced Performance 2
Upon successful completion of Advanced Performance 1, learners receive a personal recital set and instructions for preparing for Advanced Performance 2 (R400d). Learners are directed and crafted in preparation for a final Personal Recital to be performed and submitted for Advanced Performance certification assessment.
In R400d, learners have assignments (choreography approvals, recital preparation, mapping, gridwork, story arcing, casting, crafting, etc.) to complete and pass during the course. The final exam is a Personal Recital to be held within 12 weeks after the course end date.

2. Required Choreography
Eight choreographies must be learned, retained, practiced, and evaluation-ready for approval ("sign-off") certification in this level. For finger cymbal choreographies, submit with cymbals as written (not both R-hand and L-hand dominant). In this level, somatics and choreography share the same evaluation criteria; see the combined rubric at the end of the somatic overview booklet: LINK.

Four of the choreographies represent the 400-level. The first three (Yanna Yanna, Lissa Fakir, and Laylet Hob) are considered successfully approved ("signed off") once "Near Passing" is achieved on the Rubric. Nebtidi Mnein El Hakeiya, as it is in the Choreography Showcase, requires "Passing" for approval ("sign off").

3. Somatic Requirements
The S400d (Advanced Performance 1) course includes advanced-level somatics testing. In previous levels (Foundations and Integrations), somatic testing is about demonstrating an understanding and development of movement. For the Advanced Performance level, dancers must demonstrate their full ability to perform the somatic technique combinations at a performance level.
