Welcome to Integrations

Integrations includes two sequential testing prep courses. The first, Integrations 1, focuses on layering using Suhaila’s somatic belly dance method and Core Dimension®. Integrations 2 builds on Integrations 1 while also layering the Salimpour Vocabulary with inherent sentiment and stylization.

These courses provide a structured environment where you apply, refine, and internalize somatics, technique, choreography, and musical interpretation you have learned through independent study. Each week, you receive assigned work — technique, choreography, and/or performance — for focused practice and personalized feedback. These courses are designed to strengthen skill fluency, refine musicality, and build expressive confidence in preparation for formal assessment or performance opportunities.

All learning of somatics, technique, and choreography occurs outside these courses through ongoing independent study with the Library & Conservatory Subscription and required independent choreography courses. Learners continue this study before, during, and after enrollment. Integrations courses do not teach technique or choreography; they provide structured assignments and feedback designed to prepare learners for certification assessment.

Learners enter Integrations 1 when they feel ready to demonstrate their work. After completing assigned submissions and with instructor permission, they take the Integrations 1 Assessment. If successful, learners repeat the same process for Integrations 2: continued independent study, enrollment in Integrations 2, assigned submissions, and the Integrations 2 Assessment.

Many learners choose to take an Integrations course earlier in their process to understand expectations and receive feedback, then retake the course later when they are ready to pursue official certification.

Cultural Context & Approach

At Salimpour School, movement study is grounded in respect for the cultural origins of belly dance in the SWANA region. Integrations continues to explore how stylistic choices, musical phrasing, and expressive nuance are shaped by cultural contexts while sustaining somatic awareness and expressive confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Is certification testing included in the course?

Certification testing is handled separately at the end of the course for an additional fee.

How do I get feedback on my dancing?

Each week’s assigned submission provides an opportunity for personalized instructor feedback.

Is there a weekly session I need to attend and what time is it?

There are no required weekly live sessions, though instructors may schedule optional meeting sessions during the course.

What should I know about Premium features?

Premium features such as extended access and additional choreography takes come with specific time restrictions as outlined in the course schedule.

  Premium Restrictions

  • None of the premium additions are adjustable, extendable, refundable, transferable, nor exchangeable.

  • Four weeks of post-access allows the learner to stay in the classroom for an additional 4 weeks if there are remaining assignments to be completed. Access is removed upon completion of outstanding assignments.

  • It is assumed that the learner has already learned the choreography in preparation for the course, so access to choreographies during the course is considered a supplementary resource. Premium choreography access, regardless of learner registration date, ends 4 weeks after the end of the course. Learners who sign up later than 4 weeks prior to the course are not given additional access time. Pre-course access to choreography is only provided to learners who have paid course enrollment in full.

  • Private lessons must be scheduled and taken during the duration of the course. Scheduling must be done and confirmed no later than the end of the 10th week of coursework.

  • Additional takes per choreography (see specific course details for the required choreography) are provided. These are accessible in specific weeks outlined in the course schedule.
